    1. Coast Guard, but may be a Texas Reserve unit, if such a thing exists.

    2. No, no CG reserve aviation.
All 45 CG HH60s to undergo rebuilds, this might be the first (60birds are 6001, 6002, sequentially - except those crashed).

  3. Nope. That bird is Navy, not USCG, and belongs to the NAS Fallon SAR unit, the "Longhorns".
    'bout 1000 miles from Texas.
    And it's an MH-60S.

    Here's a better 3/4 view:

The squadron also plays Aggressor Hinds in Red Flag and Top Gun exercises.

The orange and white paint scheme is strictly stateside, to better show up in the desert and high Sierra AO.

And when you need one for real, they're a welcome sight at MWTC at Pickel Meadows.

  5. Got a joy ride in a Blackhawk, long range one, with most of the rear space filled with add on auxiliary fuel tanks. First ride inna chopper. Man do they shake, worse than a big Harley. It was a gas sitting at the open door watching the scenery.

    1. There is a vibration damper in the passenger compartment ceiling. About 90 Lbs of lead, commonly known as a hammer (addresses 4 per Rev). There are also big tungsten "bifilar" dampers on each main rotor blade (addressing 3/Rev and 5/Rev multiples). The rest is up to a rotor tuning procedure known as "Track and Balance".
