Huge Rocks Blown Up With Dynamite to Clear Road | AccuWeather. I've driven that road several times.

  1. The Old Foresthill Road, between the confluence of the North and Middle Forks of the Amercian Rivers, and where the old road ties in to the new Foresthill Road just east of the Foresthill bridge. Very little traffic there, as most traffic would use the new Foresthill Road over the bridge to get into Foresthill.

I blew a drive tire on a log truck midspan on the bridge one time. Scared the crap out of me. Thee's nothing like being 730 feet over a river when you hear bomb go off.

    2. That's some neat country between I-80 and Highway 50, and between Foresthill/Georgetown and Lake Tahoe. I spent maybe half of my career working in that territory and have lots of memories from the experiences, both good and bad.

One of the good ones was documenting 7 different bear sightings in a 20 mile stretch of road above Foresthill. Each was a unique size and color.
      Fun times.

  2. It's not even my field, but it seems like they might have wanted one of those woven wire blast blankets for that job. Unless it was supposed to be a publicity shot. Fly rock is a thing, RIP camera.
