    I would like to see what happens if you left a bunch of empty refrigerator boxes in an area where prides of lions or cheetahs congregate.

  6. I think its the den instinct. In the wild dogs and cats would never just sleep out in the open. Our dogs sleep under the coffee table (in spite of their size), under beds, and in their kennels-the doors of which never close. I believe it is their instinct to sleep in enclosed spaces for safety.
