And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? Well, I could be wrong, but the Centurion in #1 has chipped his gladius and that will cause it to shatter. Besides the swords were made for thrusting not slashing. #2 picture, the pilum (throwing javelin) was not in the front ranks. The front ranks used their swords and shields. The pilum would be thrown by the rear ranks.
I just noticed, in the first image, all of the Romans are left-handed,second image, they are all right-handed.
