When my body won’t hold me anymore
And it finally lets me free
Where will I go?
Will the trade winds take me south through Georgia grain?
Or tropical rain?
Or snow from the heavens?
Will I join with the ocean blue?
Or run into a savior true?
And shake hands laughing
And walk through the night, straight to the light
Holding the love I’ve known in my life
And no hard feelings
And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I'm living proof he was a tolerant man.

ReplyDeleteYes it is. Still a few good ones left but Gerard just kind of set himself apart.
DeleteNever met him, but appreciated his musings. We all have to pass through the curtain, his words above are a good picture to hold onto for the transition. RIP and condolences to his family.
