This makes sense, but what took so long?
The decision to change the location of the company’s headquarters was first announced last week, and much of the work has already been completed.
A release from the company notes that “leadership, R&D and manufacturing resources” are now in place at the 225,000 square-foot facility in Troy.
Kimber is now “adding staff across all departments” to complete the transition.
The gunmaker’s massive presence in the Wiregrass is still relatively new. Governor Kay Ivey first announced it in her state of the state address in 2018. At the time, it was described as a manufacturing capacity expansion, not a new headquarters, but the executives at Kimber appear to have grown fond of the Yellowhammer State.
The gunmaker was founded in Yonkers, New York, in 1979 and remained headquartered there until its recent transition to Alabama.
The company says it completed an exhaustive search for its new headquarters, and Troy stood out for its “proximity to top-tier engineering schools as well as gun- and business-friendly support from the city of Troy and the great state of Alabama.
Another successful business leaves a blue state and takes its taxes and employment to a friendlier location. No surprise, just that it took so long.
Take that you pompous, control-freak clown Andy Cuomo!
ReplyDeleteTroy, home to Lockheed Martin smart munitions manufacturing plant.
ReplyDeleteTakes a lot to move an ensconced manufacturing shop and its personnel - to the right place. Likely been in the works for a while and just announced now. Mass exodus from large cities to friendlier places will re-balance the electoral wheel...as long as the transplants forget their liberal ways.
ReplyDeleteTheir Kimber .45 is hands down the most accurate handgun i've ever fired; while it was accuratized at the factory, it's still the only handgun i've ever been able to place 10 shots out of 10 in the center ring@ 30'. Expensive, but you can't go wrong with a Kimber...
ReplyDeleteGood. Maybe now they can reduce their prices due to lower costs and I will finally become a customer.
ReplyDeleteMy firsts thought too, since they won't be paying NY taxes anymore.
DeleteSecondarily: In the event of another Civil War, this time all the firearms and munitions plants will be in the South.
Most important claim of the century Rick
DeleteWelcome to a red state, we value your product and your employment.
ReplyDeleteHm.....only 3 hours south of CMP Alabama.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad they moved. NOW if they would just make a better aluminum lower and a improved extractor they might would have a better weapon. I have had 2 Bad ones a micro 380 and a ULTRA carry 45 and a friend has had a total of 4 in the past few years, I went back to other brands. GOOD luck, in ALA"damn"Bama. I HAVE lived there.
ReplyDeleteThe company and the jobs aren't wanted in New York. Time to go.
ReplyDeleteJust as our useless overlords seem to be using Orwell's 1984 as an instruction manual, now companies seemingly are following Ayn Rand's John Galt.
ReplyDeleteAnd of course they no longer pay extortionate NY state corporate taxes.
ReplyDeleteGreat news. I try not to buy stuff or do business with anything in NY, CA or the city-states of Chicago, Baltimore, etc. Kimber hopefully will soon be up and running in its new home.
