And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Would not steel shot on the knuckles hurt your hand when used? Not sure about this.
I think shot has two purposes. First, it increases the mass of any punch the wearer might throw, similar to holding a roll of quarters in your palm. Second, the individual shot each act independently and likely perform like a dead blow hammer.
The right way to make sap gloves is to put lead behind the knuckles, not in front, while padding the knuckles with an extra layer of leather. That way you can slap with the lead as well as use it "like a role of dimes" to fortify your fist.
I gotta say that if I find myself in a position where I’m using sap gloves and blackjacks to fight with.... I need to question why I’m there and how can I avoid this in the future. These are really good post capture information gathering tools... Why steel instead of lead?
Working crowd security, a technique we used was to put our fingers down the throat of the yapper's open mouth and hook our thumb under the chin. Gloves like these protect you from bites.
nope. the shot is right up against your knuckles so no movement to create energy into them. They increase the impact energy on what you're hitting, not your hands. you can trust me, also.
hatch is good gear. these are tertiary devices - you wear these instead of holding rolls of coins because you're using your hands for something else at the time; e.g., pr24, straightstick, face candy spray, etc...

ReplyDeleteThis pair can't be from Portland, Oregon. No scuff marks.

ReplyDeleteI'd concur. Having the shot in front means that the front leather will wear and eventually fail.

ReplyDeleteLead is bad for the environment, bub! Also, you wouldn't want to risk giving the guy lead poisoning while beating some sense into him, now would you?
DeleteNah! All the adrenaline would deaden you to the recoil.

ReplyDeleteSap gloves do not injure the hand...shot placed in palm or knuckles...trust me on this....
ReplyDeleteMaybe backed by hard plastic to protect the fingers?
