And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? We had varying numbers of horses. The fewest I recall was 4 and the most was 12. Of the 12, 2 were boarded for other people.
Growing up like that is a lot of work, but there is a payoff in terms of character. At least I narcissistically think so. I recall that some of the people I knew thought I was spoiled because we moved from heating water on a coal stove to a genuine water heater. Imagine that, a hot shower was considered pampered. I guess it is from an Indian Brave perspective. Still, the hot shower would be difficult to give up.
This is very much like the place where I grew up.
