Looked at from another perspective, why didn't anyone think that the wood deck wasn't built to handle that many people? Did not that reality suggest to at least one of them that they shouldn't all crowd out there? I'll bet they are all city folk, unused to having to make those kinds of judgements.
And only one man kept his calm and looked out for his woman, the groom!
ReplyDeleteYeah, and good for him, but in defense of the other guys, there weren't any other women near enough at hand to offer much help to (the bride and groom were in the way), and thus they reverted to the very male rule of "every man for himself, and the devil take the hindmost."
