But then again, who in their right mind would want to?
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) "may have scuttled a compromise on immigration reform with just one sound bite," the San Antonio Express-News reports.
"House Republicans who supported 'principles' of immigration reform floated by Speaker John Boehner late last month grumbled Tuesday that the plan was dead on arrival because Cruz blasted it as 'amnesty,' spurring a blizzard of negative phone calls to House Republicans."
Said one GOP lawmaker: "After that it was 'We'll get back to you on immigration reform'"
Hey, I called Boehner's office myself, and navigated through until I got a person, then unloaded about what would happen if the Loser Party helped put this insanity through Congress to law. Cruz had nothing to do with that, but the lesson should be clear for us.
On issues that we care about, we simply must organize, and by our joint actions put the pressure on the politicians. We had better, as the big money industrialists surely are, as are the special interests who want free chit courtesy of our own paychecks.
Act now or lose it all.
Man, that Ted Cruz must be the most powerful person in the world, why he single handedly shut down the ENTIRE US government and now he has done the same with shamnesty. No wonder tptb are so scared of him!
ReplyDeleteUS immigration is a festering problem that must be dealt with. HOWEVER, there is no sense in doing it without a secure border. Once the border is genuinely secure, we can talk.
