And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Ten engines - count 'em!
Posted for no other reason than it's total awesomeness.
Some years ago I drove my wife & daughter to the Castle AFB museum in Atwater just to see that aircraft. It is impressive. Gonna guess that Grand Coulee dam down there.
B-36 Peacekeeper. There was one at Chanute AFB, Rantoul, Illinois when I was stationed there. Along with it was a B-47, B-52, B-29, WB-50, a couple of Phantoms and T-38/F-5s. Chanute even had a B-58 Hustler on the southeast corner of the parade ground. Nice aircraft.
Built to take an atomic bomb from the US to Russia and to return unloaded.
ReplyDeleteLoud and relatively fast what's not to like.Needs more engines though:)

ReplyDeleteThere was the remains of one at Kelly AFB when I was stationed at Lackland in the early '80s. What a beast!
