    1. Google the Kalash people. They are a tribal group that still hold to a primitive, pre Islamic religion. Other than their cultural differences, their physical appearance is such that they could walk down any American street dressed as we do and not be noticed. They are not, as is sometimes alleged, descended from the left behind troops of Alexander the Great, however.

  2. Found some interesting articles. Seems like Islam is going to overtake their culture, though.

    1. It's my understanding that they are refugees from Nuristan, across the border in Afghanistan. A couple hundred years ago, everyone in that province was forcibly converted on pain of death to Islam ( is it not ever thus with that religion ), and the Kalash, rather than doing that, migrated over the mountains to their current home in remote valleys in what is now Pakistan.
