WASHINGTON – A federal agency is proposing that states lower the threshold for drunken driving to the point where a woman could be charged for driving after one drink and a man after two in a move officials say would save thousands of lives."Uh huh.
Officials "say"? According to.... whom?
Oh, I know -- they "say" that the toughening of the laws have "saved" lives thus far. They have no evidence for this claim, however."
Karl is exactly right on this. There is no evidence at all that redefining the threshold for drunk driving so low that almost any alcohol intake is a crime if you drive will do anything but make more folks at risk for an expensive arrest, for something that had heretofore been completely legal.
Do you like going out to a nice restaurant to eat? Better not have a glass of wine with that meal, as you would risk a drunk driving arrest should you be pulled over afterwards.
Yet another example of the government making our lives more and more intolerable for no objective reason, other than the raw exercise of power over us.
