in 1987 a lone Chilean Flamingo named Pink Floyd escaped from a zoo in Salt Lake City and lived alone in the wild in Utah on the Great Salt Lake, surviving off brine shrimp. He was last seen in 2005, but others have claimed they've spotted him since.

Somebody ought to "liberate" some girl flamingos.  Wouldn't it be great to have a flock of pink flamingos on the Great Salt Lake?   I know, not native, but who would they be in competition with?
