The GAO has determined that the Green River oil shale formation in the four corners area has about the same recoverable oil reserves as the entire rest of the world's proven reserves!!
That doesn't count any other oil resource. Not the Gulf of Mexico, not Canadian tar sands, nothing else.
So, there is no reason that gas should be at it's current price for much longer. It is in fact critical to the health of the country that energy be as cheap as possible, and these new oil and gas recovery technologies appear to be ready to do that job right now.
In addition, from a geo political standpoint, they promise to take away the power, wealth and influence of the Middle East oil barons, which would in effect defund their radical religion and return them to the days of riding camels through the burning sands. Keep in mind that if you subtract the value of oil out of their economies, the entire Middle East has the same GDP as Finland.
Looked at from another political angle, why couldn't Romney promise to go full speed forward on this and any other energy resource production, in an effort to make energy as cheap as possible for all Americans? Seems to me that would be a super strategy to defeat the current occupant of the White House.
If only I was the boss!
