The oldest surviving house on Nantucket Island, Massachusetts, is the Jethro Coffin home, pictured here.   It was built in 1686 as a wedding present to Mr. Coffin, and is the only remaining structure from the 17th century English settlement. Clearly, windows were not a priority back in 1686.
