So I guess it's "map" route. However, as I was drawing the line between the two places the line "curved" by itself, as if to compensate for the curvature of the earth. shrug It's a long way and I prolly won't do it. I did 6 hours nonstop a couple times and that was enough. The real killer it the connecting flights - two domestic flights to get to Dallas, then another to Perth from Sydney.
