He thinking that’s probably a tracking sight on an F-4E type (internal gun) and the red marks are lead computing markngs. The USAF C & D models used a centerline mounted gun pod. Center dot is where the gun’s pointed, red bar is where it’ll hit. Either way, that’s a good gun kill on that Eagle.p2https://www.blogger.com/profile/08569217370626636923noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4533651942397782565.post-62599935724539706612021-11-20T20:07:46.870-08:002021-11-20T20:07:46.870-08:00Thanks!Thanks!Robhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05450082315014407506noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4533651942397782565.post-8062681328935205072021-11-20T17:57:41.789-08:002021-11-20T17:57:41.789-08:00That looks like an early F-4 gun sight reticle. Center dot is the gun’s boresight, the other marks are lead indications if I’m not mistaken. I don’t know why just those two marks would be red; I’m fairly certain they were either all red for night or all white. Later HUD’s had airspeed & altitude readouts on either side of the reticle. Current HUDs have a whole mess of info on them.p2https://www.blogger.com/profile/08569217370626636923noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4533651942397782565.post-64454091880896201402021-11-20T09:13:05.260-08:002021-11-20T09:13:05.260-08:00Considering that's an F-15, undefeated in the ...Considering that's an F-15, undefeated in the skies for 45 years and counting, exactly who's locked up who remains an open question.

A single-frame momentary glimpse in the reticle does not a kill make, as about 104 pilots for Team Bandit have found out over the years, at last count.Aesophttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07834464741531503378noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4533651942397782565.post-5607286497535649372021-11-20T07:12:01.703-08:002021-11-20T07:12:01.703-08:00Anyone know what the red marks are?Anyone know what the red marks are?Robhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05450082315014407506noreply@blogger.com
