And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Copper, sweat soldiered joints.? Quite typical on sinks, before PVC. We had 2 of them on the farm, with the capped Tee for clean-out, just about like that.
Love them old ceramic sinks, grab everyone I can, they are beautiful industrial art in their own right. The cast iron types are superb foundry pieces, very state of the sand cast art pre cnc. They had to have used casks with 3 or more pieces because all the negative drafts. High high art really, acme of skilled handcraft and tribal knowledge.
lead pipes?

ReplyDeleteThat sink reminds me that today's modern kitchens have a "farm sink."

ReplyDeleteKind if looks like my Grandmas kitchen. The house was built in the early 1920s.
ReplyDeleteOur farm house was built in 1860, with 'modern plumbing', later updated with white ceramic CAST IRON sinks & crows feet bathtubs.
DeleteFilled the bathtub with buckets of water, heated on the stove, and it'd stay nice & warm for an hour, on the coldest winter nights.
Grand parents had a summer kitchen, first stop for any man beast or food.
