And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
That was a regular at our house, too, but only every third or fourth day. When Mother was feeling particularly generous, she would crispy-fry up some bacon and crumble it into the batter. She'd do the same with waffles.
OK, now I've made myself hungry just three hours after lunch!
Maple Syrup makes 'em better. We ate them growing up, it was a Sunday treat, with pork sausage or Bacon, eggs. Sometimes with Blackberries, Blueberries cooked into them. REAL butter, always.
In Junior High (1975) I was one of the first boys to take home-ec. I did it to be closer to the bra-less babes and to learn how to live alone. One of the first lessons was to make home made maple syrup using Mapelein and sugar. That image would be a good approximation of our looking at finished product.
Who would not be excited by that!
