And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

From a while back, but one of the biggest salmon found in the old Sacramento River hereabouts.
It's from about ten years ago, and was in an article posted in a local paper. Even the fish and game guys were amazed at the size and weight, even dead as it was.

Not an outdoorsman much, are ya? Did you notice the fish had no eyes? It had been dead for some time, you dummy. They were just getting the picture because they were amazed at its size.
As a Christian, I don't worship or humanize animals, but I utterly agree with the principle. I have taught every one of my children: if you're not keeping a trout, toss it right back. If you're keeping it, kill it right away. No slow deaths on stringers; I hate the sight of that.
