There's a pack of engineers at either Airbus or Boeing that are very proud of their landing gear

  2. The Engineer that designed the landing gear kinematics for the C-5A ended up in a mental hospital.

  3. And there are several rubber tire manufacturers that love each and every landing.

    1. Yup, a Challenger 601 business jet wears a main tire out in 160 landings and those were over $1,000 each 20 years ago. There are not that many tire manufacturers that offer aircraft tires, Michelin and Goodyear dominate the market. The FAA and other aviation authorities around the world demand rigorous testing so if you want to sell tires for a 747 you need a 747 to test them.
