And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
You mean style before automakers had to PANDER to government MANDATES over consumer desires. NOBODY asked for or demanded UGLY. GOVERNMENT MANDATED IT with CAFE mpg requirements that can ONLY be met in a wind tunnel with jellybean-shaped pieces of crap.
Are you questioning the TRUTH of how we got here? Do you HONESTLY think that this ugliness is about something OTHER than having to hit CAFE mpg numbers? Please enlighten me...because I know how we got here, and it certainly wasn't because everyone wanted an UGLY CAR.
Manufacturers want profits, they provide what the public will buy. CAFE standards do not stop manufacturers from making gas guzzlers, but they do tax more on gas guzzlers. There’s not enough market for them. People don’t like a tariff, and that’s what the CAFE rule is like - a penalty for not meeting the standard.
As for being ugly, the public votes with their pocketbook. SUVs are kinda ugly by nature, but people want SUVs. They are handy. Wagons and sedans have been largely phased out due to poor sales, not gubment overreach
Fins are circling.
