And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Highschool buddy bought one in the late 70's, it was a whole whopping $10,000 large, big money back then, by the late 80's he was grossing 10 grand a day in cash, cash only sales, hired the prettiest young girls he could get, paid them very well, provided cutest outfits for them, got them to get their friends to work there too, rotated them hourly with 10 minute breaks so they could gossip and fun around, made it a fun place to work all around, same girls worked decades for him summers, they became mostly teachers and nurses by then. Sold it in 2000 for a princely sum, only know it was considerable, bought it cash, sold it for cash too. Sharp guy, real laid back, raised a large family, had a truck garden farm, number of greenhouses, hired college kids to run it under a course structure for agriculture, the kids ran everything, part of the courses for summer school credits, and made very good money at that too.
Grew up going to a burger joint that looked identical, but not DQ. Still the best burger and ice cream place in town. Second generation owners recently sold, new owners brought building and equipment up to date. Should be good for another 50 years!
Still have one of these same buildings in Knoxville on north Central ave. It's been a freeze O since 1965 when I started UT. Don't know if it was ever a DQ, but it's still the best burger and ice cream place in town! (My opinion only,, which is usually correct) Bubbarust
The DQ near where I grew up looked just like that pic. It's still there, still just selling cones, frappes and sundaes, June to end of Sept and making bank. Same family still owns it.
They just opened a brand new DQ in a newer part of town. Some of my buddies have visited already and are happy with what they got there.
