And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

I don't know this guy and this isn't the usual stuff I post here, but I found it interesting. Something to think about even outside the religious aspect.
Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and these things will be given unto you. Faith first and everything else will follow. Do not fear for your God is with you wherever you go. When Jesus died on the cross, the temple curtain was torn and Jesus became our intercession to the Father. If you believe in Him you shall be saved! Hallelujah!
I don't know how women can leave their precious children at home for work, but I think it has to do with our debased culture and how stay home moms are looked at as somehow losers, even in the church. I saw that with my own eyes; as a fighter pilot I was admired, but as a full time mom I was dirt, even though I picked the best thing. This is a culture problem. Its is also a divorce problem; a stay home mom is vulnerable to getting dumped at any time with no way to support herself and the kids.
If you take lust over your family, then you’ve made the worst decision of your life. Pushing 80 here, and I can tell you that your family is infinitely more important than that brief moment of euphoria. JohnD
He's correct, but many American women have bought into the progressives' agenda because most people are sheep looking to follow the "feel good about being a member of the current 'in' group" theme. We have met the enemy and they is us.
This is Christian Orthodoxy. Sounds great on the surface; but they are into "works" for your salvation. They don't get the idea that God sacrificed Himself and rose again for your salvation. Its a free gift and you don't have to work for it.
No. we do not believe in "works" as Protestants define that term. As Paul said, the works of the Law cannot save you. Grace is free gift; but if you do nothing to exercise that grace, to not do the work of the Spirit by becoming more Christ-like (theosis), what is salvation?
Neither do we believe in the doctrine of penal substatutionary attonement (a Roman Catholic innovation).
Jesus said to have faith, what is faith? Faith is believing in something that is not tangible something that you cannot touch, feel or see. People who have faith in Jesus knows that in ways we cannot understand that Jesus is with us, always with us. When you accept Jesus truly accept Jesus only then will you understand what true faith is.
Look at the source and see if you believe. Those who turn to others for their interpretation of what God’s words mean have already lost faith. For now your faith is in the interpreter’s words, not the words of God.
I am a Christian, was baptized in 1980, been going to church ever since, and I have been hearing this speech in one form or another throughout the years. I have not married. What do you think I experience when I have heard this that entire time, and still hear it? How do you think I have felt and still feel?
Nobody should contemplate marriage as something as something apart from children. Ok, so people that can't have children should not marry? What about once the children are grown and leave the house? Should they divorce then since there is no point in marriage apart of children?
Seems like this guy doesn't like women working and many people here agree with him. The median income for one person in the US is $65K annually. Can someone explain to me how a man (the only one allowed to work) is supposed to buy a house, feed, educate, clothe, provide healthcare, etc, etc, etc with a $65K income? And that is the MEDIAN what are all those below the median supposed to do? And remember most of those below the median are the ones that didn't go to college. They are not the liberal elites.
Many women work because they want to and good for them. But many, many, many more work because they HAVE to keep their families afloat.
Many here highlight this guy that seems to have spent his life in a bubble with no contact with reality while rejecting any increase to minimum wages, any form of $ going towards healthcare, education or childcare.
Do you want women to stay home? Pay husbands better and MANY women will choose to stay home.
AWFL's/women's lib/feminism created the 2 parent working system that drove wages down for the working father. same system of people imported all these people that shouldn't be here now as cheap labor. I am a mid gen x-er and witnessed it for myself. Wife became Orthodox a few years ago, I will be soon. It is refreshing to see so many young couples with many children at church.
Well, I like it. When two become one it is beautiful thing. And no couple becomes one without there being a third who drives the union. The third is the One who brings us together and makes us one. We are all little trinities. Or we are lost.
Try this.

Amen. As a priest he is absolutely right.
ReplyDeleteWelcome to Holy Orthodoxy. We converted 10 years ago.
ReplyDeleteThat is not just Eastern Orthodoxy. I am Evangelical and agree wholeheartedly with what he said about marriage. He is correct.

a mom and kids are dumped and penniless, not in illinois and my past experience as a father
DeleteTwo thumbs up. I like his simple, straightforward style of explaining things.
ReplyDelete2,000 years of consistent witness and worship. Worth looking into.
ReplyDeleteWe did, and left Protestantism for Holy Orthodoxy. No regrets. We found Christ. We are home.
DeleteI'll take the virus of lust.

ReplyDeleteCW, this is fabulous stuff! Spot on. Profound. This kind of stuff is how we turn our country and the world around. With God all things are possible.

As to faith - everyone has faith for no other reason than the next breath is always expected.
