Frontier Legend: Born in 1860, Eaton was a cowboy, scout, U.S. Deputy Marshal, and author known for his exceptional gun-handling skills. Oklahoma Mascot: He is the inspiration for the "Pistol Pete" mascot of Oklahoma State University.Historical Moment: The photograph was taken on Cowboy Hill in Perkins, Oklahoma, when Eaton was 88 years old.
