  1. Recently, there was a glider meet up at the local airport and the metropolitan airport's ATC was issuing NOTAMs to watch for the "gaggle of gliders" over the area.

  3. It's a Jonker with the optional jet engine 'sustainer'. An electrically driven propeller is also available.

    1. Keeps them from landing off-field in someone's wheat or corn. The engine does not have enough power for that sailplane to be self-launching.

  4. For a "significant" birthday Smarter Half offered to fund a Bucket List item. Since Dawn Wells was unavailable I contacted several sailplane operation in the NoVA area. "How big are you?" they all asked. "Six foot, six inches, 265lbs." "Hum, would you consider an introductory flight in a Cessna 172?"
