And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
My mother-in-law learned to do ink drawing on rice paper while she was in Japan. I still have some of her work on my walls. Amazingly the art survived the house fire in 2004, bookcases collapsed on top of the box they were in and insulated them from the heat. Three feet away a aluminum square partly melted.
That is Shoji Hamada ... a "National Treasure" in Japan and one of the most revered (all over the world) master potters.
