And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
But safe...can't forget safe. You'll walk away from a 90mph crash, the car will be beat to death, but the passengers will walk. A positive, I suppose, as opposed to "car still works, but the driver?".
What a BEAUTY! To me, the style, interior and exterior, are timeless. I would wager that, new on a showroom floor today, it would out-sell whatever current plastic SUV you put it up against.
Thats a stunner! Looks a lot like a Mercury wagon my dad had, think it was like near a 59 maybe, i was a little turd so its hard to recall details like year, similar great style, same two tone color.
My Dad bought a new 1959 white Mercury station wagon. Had chrome trim on the side that looked like a rocket. Dad painted between the trim red. Being only 5 years old, it seemed big as a house inside. https://external-content.duckduckgo.com/iu/?u=https%3A%2F%2Ftse1.mm.bing.net%2Fth%2Fid%2FOIP.DQH2J69YJGb7OhX4dVFYyAHaDr%3Fpid%3DApi&f=1&ipt=e20cdb827a107eacb6463ddd8ab42027ef00fffdbb8704b1f331a9d3ff00201d&ipo=images

DeleteToday they forget the car, it's all about electronics.
ReplyDeleteand aerodynamics. Its why they all kinda look alike. Only one way to achieve low air drag.

Seems to be Olds' answer to the Chevy Nomad. I'd love to have either one!
ReplyDelete- WDS
It was Olds version of the Nomad, but it is very rare. I've only seen one other
Deletein 60 years.

Besides the early 30’s, I think the 1957 cars were the best designed ever.
ReplyDeletewhat are the 2 items atop the dash ?
ReplyDeleteI believe the object to the left of the steering wheel was to detect oncoming headlights, an automatic headlamp dimmer. Don’t know about to the right.
ReplyDeletethank you.
DeleteI believe the dash object to the right is a compass, the type that “floats” in a liquid. Haven’t seen one this century nor in the last 50 years.
