And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Doesn't look like the California Sierra Nevada. They don't allow fire above 10,000'. And there's not a lot of wood above 10,000 feet to make that fire anyway. And you're not allowed to make fires and camp that close to the lakes. And you're supposed to only make fires in campgrounds in existing fire rings that are not seen here.
Ah, you know what? Why don't you just stay home peasant and look at pictures on the internet of people camping and hiking in the mountains. Your very presence disturbs and despoils the pristine royal Forest and Mountain Preserves. Only the King's Men should be allowed to enter these hallowed places.
And they're not entirely wrong. Guitar Lake below Mt. Whitney is an outdoor sewer, there's poo under every rock within a mile of the Lake. In summer 50 people a day camp at Guitar Lake.
When you put it that way, it makes me glad that 20 years ago we decided to buy some acreage in the woods with a running stream and where no one has shit under any rocks ever.

Well, that sucks. Always thought Guitar Lake looked tempting from the Whitney Trail. Never made it back there. Now my impression is destroyed.
