The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? My grandfather, according to family history, got trapped in the Idaho mountains alone by early snows with the herd of sheep he was tending. He spent the entire winter taking care of the herd and himself. He was twelve years old at the time. He married my grandmother when he was fourteen and they raised thirteen children in east Tennessee (my mother's brothers and sisters). Amazingly, they all survived till their late 80's or early 90's. To say pioneer stock is tough would be an understatement! Bubbarust
I'm hoping that their p!$$pour land still transferred with mineral rights and oil was found in abundance. And that little girl is now a very elderly, well off matriarch with a lot of offspring who appreciate the hardscrabble life of earlier generations. That's what I choose to think, YMMV.

At the time that pik was taken none of that stuff meant a thing to them people. They were hardy folk.
