And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

When I am approaching a busy intersection (almost anywhere), I pull my high beam lever to show the other cars that I am present. Far too many distracted idiots that cause accidents will say, "I never saw you!"
Using the turning lane to pass and run a light has become a "thing", I've seen it happen several times in the last year here in So. california.
Basically a form of Russian Roulette, the car passing (and it's usually speeding) has no way to know if there is cross traffic, automotive or pedestrian.
After the crash, look at the speed of the car heading in the opposite direction, obviously the crashing car was speeding (maybe twice the speed limit).

I think the one car may have been speeding. Just a hunch.
