  4. Don't see many Fisher woodstoves anymore. One of the best ever made. No glass on front doors, so to get the "cozy" fire effect you have to leave the doors open, which defeats it's highly efficient heating capability.

      Absolutely. We've had a Fisher Grandma Bear for over 30 years. We bought it used for $350. It's unusual in that the doors have nickel plated trim.

      I believe the one above is also a Grandma Bear. They're great because you can get a good sized chunk of oddly shaped wood into them with ease, and twenty inch firewood is a perfect fit.

  5. That's how we heated the house before we got HVAC. My job from about 8 years ago was to keep the wood bin fulll and start the fire every evening. I got my white privilege card early in life

  6. Yep, also ran a Grandma Bear for about 25 years. It easily accepted huge chunks of wood....all nighters. Damn good stove.
