And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

This and following: Items of architectural interest
Hanmerbeam trusses. Love them. I want to know how they keep the wood and the windows so spotless. It’s 3 stories from the landing to the glass ceiling. And all the moulding… total dust collectors.

Spectacular. I spent my life as an architectural woodworker and this is one of the finest examples of the discipline I've ever seen.

ReplyDeleteIt just occurred to me, the reason for chairs on landings is for people who have to stop and rest while going up stairs.
ReplyDeleteIncorrect. It's for the paramedics to sit down, catch their breath and stop laughing after I've managed to fall down every flight.
