And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Guilty as charged. 3 years ago I bought a used but never fired basic 10/22 for $180. Did some research and stripped it down to bare receiver and put all new race gun parts on it, starting with the magpul hunter stock. Whistlepig fluted bull barrel, etc.
Have put several thousand rounds through it with zero issues.
I think Bill Ruger did right with his first rifle. Too bad they later considered it too expensive to manufacture. My first rifle was a Ruger .44 Carbine, been my only deer rifle since 76, every year it puts deer meat in the freezer, and for canned meat, bought it after graduating high school, (that and Ithaca model 37 Deer Slayer, for a truck weapon). Old friends, the .44 from first shot, a DRT rifle, though never used it past 100 yards, its all thick country here in WV, if anything rarely need to shoot a deer past 50yards. A most effective, light easy to aim number. It was a bit expensive back new, but it was the only rifle for me, still is.
Considering all the years of good service it has given you, it was probably one of the best investments ever. Plus, you can pass it on down to the kids/grandkids.

The 10/22 is probably the most produced 22 rifle ever created.

Probably the most modified too. I've seen them made to look like STENs, AK underfolders, M16, high tech gizmo tack drivers, and more.
