  2. Airborne troopers in C-47's with hash-mark ID paint scheme on wings. My guess is it's a scene from A Bridge Too Far".

  3. The paint scheme was used on D-Day to identify friendly planes for allies. Hopefully they would not be shot at by friendly fire.

  5. There use to be an air field at Bailey's Cross Roads, Fairfax Co., Virginia. Closed when I was in high school. I remember seeing an aircraft with Invasion Stripes. It was NOT a war bird. But the owner/pilot was a WWII vet and wanted people to know it.

  7. A C47 in turbulence is a bit of a ride. They are meant to snake a bit and that was my experience on a short flight in rough conditions. Magnificent machine though.
