  1. I was issued a Ka-Bar for Desert Storm. It is easy to put a razor edge on a Ka-bar. The soft metal also worked better with my strike stick for making sparks for a fire. Did I mention it is easy to sharpen?

  2. This is a substantial tool. It isn't fancy or delicate. As mentioned above, the 1095 steel doesn't hold an edge forever but can be restored quickly in the field without fancy sharpeners. You can also baton wood with literally no concern about hurting this thing. This might be considered EDC only if you live primitively, or on some huge spread. I have several Ka-Bar Becker designs & all the ones I own are excellent work partners.

  3. Forgot to mention: a popular mod to these handles is to add some friction tape (think hockey sticks) to improve grip in wet conditions.

  4. Like the next size up, because better a larger blade anytime.

    1. BK-2 blade is 0.25" thick. Indestructible. BK-7 blade is bigger, but 0.188" thick. I saw one snap, when used hard.
