And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
He's dead. But if he can ground the spear and put the tip into the bears chest he might take it with him. But the dying bear will take him apart anyway. Save the dogs at least.
He will twist and thrust that spear right up through the soft tissue of the neck into the brains or into the spine. All his force and weight will be behind it. Those dogs won't quit either. Planting the butt would limit his ability to react to any change in attack
I guess that's why the old cave art depicts hunting animals. It was dangerous and worth celebrating if you came home in one piece. This guy gets one shot at it but at least the spear looks like a serious weapon.
