  1. Christina Olds has been on the u toob discussing the book and her Dad- She alludes at one point that Dad had more than five aerial victories and not just the four that were acknowledged. This was to prevent being relieved of command at the Eighth Wing. 2. Legendary aviator, lived life to the fullest, could’ve done pretty much anything, but in the end was just a broke, dirty old man.

    1. Nearly finished reading his book. After reading and with great disappointment, I came to the same conclusion as you. Doesn't diminish my high opinion of him, reading just provided necessary between the lines insight.

  3. Indeed. About time I read my copy again. In this photo, Robin Old's dad, Ltc. Robert Olds, is the pilot of the lead Y1B-17--

  4. Really good reading.

I believe he's the only pilot to be an Ace in both the P-51 and P-38.
And, he's in the College Football Hall of Fame.

  5. I have this in the 'to read later' pile. I really need to make some time for it. A relative is briefly mentioned in the book.
