  1. I do not like seeing one of those who contributed to the philosophy of environmental terrorism we lived through during the 60's and 70's with his monkey wrench book, etc. Rather, remember the loggers, miners, ranchers, and farmers who were injured, or who lived under a cloud of fear that some hippy-dippy had sabotaged their equipment or products. Those efforts contributed to our loss of small town and rural industry in the west - only to be replaced by tourism and prisons. He may have been a good story teller, but his philosophy was evil.

    1. I was standing not six feet from a band mill when it exploded due to a ceramic spike. Fuque those hippies.

    2. I recommend you read his books, as he specifically argued against anything that might injure (blowing up Glen Canyon Dam was clearly not a serious option).

  2. I first learned if Edward Abbey here on Daily Time Waster. I am pretty sure that I have read most of his books. This fiction books are OK. His biographical books are great.

  3. Born a few miles from where I was. The only woman I've ever truly loved introduced me to his books. I was well on my way to following into his footsteps as a park ranger until I met another woman. Many years, many jobs and many women later, I should have stayed the course and stayed away from women to start with.

    1. It took me decades to understand that a stiff dick and wet panties make you both lose your minds.
