I'd commute in that

  1. I have commuted in that, except with the Sport Top. Same color red, same crappy door fit. Mine was older though, and didn't have the padded dash.

    1. Not a comfortable commute. Cold in the winter, hot in summer and very noisy.

  2. I wish VW would build a real Scout.

    1. And I wish Boeing was still building good jets.

    2. Had no idea until last week all will be EVs, no ICEs. VW has lost its way. Put a 350 in one, and I'll buy it.

  3. Don't remember seeing any vehicle with a door like that unless it was in an accident and repaired at home by a twelve year old.

  4. Scouts had poor fitting and the doors often sagged like that - so did their pickups from that late-60s era. With a removable top, the door cut-outs made the body structurally weak and with a tendency to flex in that area. You could adjust the hinges some, but not much. They also had tubular-type frames which had a tendency to rust from the inside and weaken.

  6. I don't give a *** about the door as long as it stays shut. Look at that dash. Simple buttons, knobs, and gauges. No screens, no cameras, no LCD panels, no 'keep your eyes on the road' alerts, no bluetooth, no CarPlay. Only slight nod to high tech is the tach mounted on the steering wheel.

  7. Door bushings wore out but were not hard to replace. Axles were great to put under old CJs. Gave a nice look sturdy stance
