And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
All this time, and no one sees fit to eliminate metal parts in critical functions like hinge pins and locking mechanisms, meaning any chance of using one for long-term burial is doomed to failure from the get-go.
I still can't figure out if that's deliberate, or if every manufacturer is just that stupid.
Just a guess, but maybe the manufacturers are of the opinion that the segment of the market that "bury my ammo in the ground" isn't large enough to be concerned with.
Maybe, maybe not. Ammo isn't the only thing you can bury. Same comments apply with regard to normal use in wet environments, or around water, especially salt water. So we're back to deliberate failure, or stupid.

I don't bury stuff I intend to use.
ReplyDeleteTaking my ammo and guns is tantamount to taking my life and neither is going to happen.
You assume falsely that only ammo and guns fit inside of those boxes.
ReplyDeleteThe greater point is that these, like so many other examples, needlessly make caching supplies by burial a non-starter.
