A Young Man's Stunt

  1. Saw a guy doing that on the highway just last Friday. Not sure who he was trying to impress (though it *was* impressive). Seemed dangerously foolish though.

  2. It's a young man's stunt because if you get it wrong, you don't get to be an old man.

  8. back when I worked at HUP , there was a doctor who had lined the walls of his waiting room with old beat up helmets of clowns he had worked on.
race bikes are a blast for sure, but one wrong move and your are messed up for life. did a CT scan on a guy who had his head wrapped in a ace bandage.
he didn't make it after all. last time I was on one was in the 1970's.

  11. I've had bikes off and on for years and always loved them - especially the fast ones. When you develop skills and know your limits cool stuff is not stupid dangerous. My trouble was finding my limits without crossing the line but I'm old and in decent shape given the number of crashes.

  12. Play stupid games and you win stupid prizes.
Riding motorcycles is like anything else in life. There’s risk involved and it’s a matter of managing that risk as best you can. Where the right gear, have a hyper sense of awareness and don’t do stupid things.
I’ve been riding motorcycles for over 50 years. Crashed once on the street due to ice. Low speed, thank God. And several times on dirt bikes. Again, at lower speeds.
Still have a couple of bikes, but at my age with slowing reflexes, I adjust my writing style to compensate and manage that risk.

    1. That's what keeps social security solvent: the number of people who'll never live to collect it.
