Replaced by more fuel efficient, longer range aircraft able to bring higher profits. They will still have a place in the long-haul cargo sector however. I reminisce about my first of dozens of "Jumbo" trips. May 1970 Pan American hop from Frankfurt, Germany to Heathrow, UK.
