    1. I was stationed on Oahu in the late 80's when they started selling the cane fields to put up houses..

    2. That's sad to see. Hard to imagine Hawaii without sugar cane, when I lived there as a child it was a great treat to get a foot of cane, kept me busy for a long time chewing the sweet stuff!

      Looks like this move will increase the number of homeless, out-of-work people on the beaches there. Oh well, price of "progress."
