And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

John Deere 3522 Sugar Cane Harvester owned and operated by the Hawaiian Commercial and Sugar Company
That's sad to see. Hard to imagine Hawaii without sugar cane, when I lived there as a child it was a great treat to get a foot of cane, kept me busy for a long time chewing the sweet stuff!
Looks like this move will increase the number of homeless, out-of-work people on the beaches there. Oh well, price of "progress."

I was stationed on Oahu in the late 80's when they started selling the cane fields to put up houses..
