No way these greedy batards survive the advent of online education.
I'm blessed that I can afford this, and by God's ears I'd spend every penny on my kids if I had to, but it's strained every nerve and financial asset. My business partner, who's kids are now in high school, is terrified by my experience.
And thanks to the LT who managed to get a full ride scholarship, and to the oldest daughter, who graduated in 3 and a half years.
The two daughters took out loans, but between us all focusing on the issue, they are very manageable, and the oldest has hers already paid off.
I take great pleasure explaining, when these schools call asking for donations, why they're getting nothing further.

Student loans that never go away unless they are paid off or you die. Greed, just greed.
We have an education industry in America, just like we have a medical industry & a justice industry. It's greed, just greed.
And it didn't used to be that way not so long ago. Mrs. CW and myself basically put ourselves through school working summers and during the school year ( I drove busses and tomato trucks). No way you can do that now. That's a huge failure.
DeleteFrom what I've read, you can thank the newly minted Lawyers for that one. Go to college for 4 years with loans for everything, graduate, and immediately declare bankruptcy (no income). Start your job debt free, and rake in the bucks.
DeleteBanks got the legislature to change the law so college loans could never be discharged under any circumstances to plug any loopholes a Lawyer might use to wiggle out from paying. And the rest of us suffer.

I paid for my college working odd jobs till I dropped out after 3 years because the college had lost their accreditation. I joined the USAF, got married, paid for my wife's Masters, and had 2 kids before I went back as a non-traditional student to get my BS. I then paid for my daughter to get her BS and MS (she had scholarships and that helped) and then paid for my son's BS.
ReplyDeleteMy wife almost got sucked into the liberal agenda in college. My daughter bought it hook, line, and sinker; she can recite Jeffersonian politics and understands macro/micro economics but has bought into the "feminism" movement. My boy played along to get past a class as he saw through the agenda and repercussions of those who didn't follow suit; he had the street smarts.
Both of my kids do not have any college debt. My retirement fund has suffered because of my willingness to pay for education but I hold no grudges. Donate to a college? Hell no, they mis-manage most of their money to begin with and they have been liberal indoctrination centers for 2 generations.

Deletethe news yesterday on KNX AM 1070 said that the university system had been caught increasing student costs, and putting that money carefully out of sight, claiming poverty, and asking California for more and more money to remain solvent. So, just another greedy organization trying to get more money from the taxpayers. No surprise. Thought you oughta know as an update to your post pointing out YOU getting asked for more money while her California university hides the profits.
