    3. The 1911 appeals to me because of its sturdy, utilitarian design. I find further embellishments unnecessary.
      But I can appreciate the effort required for a build like this.
      Damascus steel has been used for centuries in firearms and edged weapons. (Consider a katana for instance.) Properly forged and heat treated, it should prove serviceable in this application. Better than a commercial forging? Hard to say, but that's not really the point of this pistol. It is clearly intended as a work art.
