And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Smooth
Given the AK, the clothes and the background, I'm thinking he might be South African.
Being right-handed, I carry mine butt up, sling forward on my left shoulder. Since my hand is on the gun (R or SG) most of the time, it's really quick to slide into position.
Butt up can be problematic if you're moving through mud and you slip (unless you've put a condom on the barrel). An obstructed barrel can be problematic

I'm trying to figure out why he only had one round in the chamber and none in the mag. Looks like the bolt held open after he shot.
