And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

The fate of Extra Joker All 10 crew KIA. The combat photographer who took the picture series usually flew on Extra Joker, but that crew had asked him to fly on another bomber that day so that he could take some pictures of them.
Bailing out would be problematic.

DeleteDuring the Second World War, the Hollywood movie star, James "Jimmy" Stewart, was a B-24 pilot in Europe.
ReplyDeleteWe're all lucky that he survived and went on to make more great movies.
