  2. Ah yes, the Japanese P-3C. I was attached to VP-30 in the early 80's when they started training their operators on the new birds. I have several hours on "Redball 01" the first P-3C built for them by Lockheed. And that picture is definitely a composite. P-3 pilots get very nervous when there is more than one plane within a mile of each other. Formation flyers they are not!

      I have heard that the Electra/Orion is unique in that it handles like a single engine plane. I have seen footage of an Electra fire fighter flying the contour of a mountain while dropping retardant at tree-top level.
      Can you comment on its maneuverability?
